Ok, so I’m definitely not a makeup artist but I am a makeup enthusiast and I was so inspired by the trends of Spring 2015 (see post here ) and since I am in spring, I thought why not create my own version of the effortless, dewy look with a pop.
It’s all about the base, bout the base, bout the base, no cakey (face) (see what I did there :P) and this meant I needed to add some ‘glow’ or ‘honey dew’ to my face. Naturally I’m pretty pale, so I reached for my Diorskin Nude Tan Prime and Bronze, to give my skin a subtle sun kissed colour and that coveted healthy glow. This primer sits so nicely on the skin and I don’t find I need to use any other primers in aiding my skin to look smoother. I also find Diorskin Nude Tan adds an instant luminosity to my complexion. I then went with one of my favourite bases, the Bourjois Happy Light in 51 . This a lovely glowy, light to medium liquid texture foundation, that contains translucent pigments that help give a radiant glow to the skin, while reflecting the light beautifully. Because of the pink tones of this foundation, I find it perfect for when I want a warmer skin-like finish. To add a further gleam to the skin I dusted Hourglasses Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused light over the face. This is perfection in a compact; I love the effects this has on the skin. It gives a luminous sheen that helps to control the oils slightly in my t-zone, while adding a little je ne sais quoi, yes that’s right je ne sais quoi haha… oh dear…let’s move on… I wanted to keep the cheeks neutral and bronzed so of course Nars - Casino was the only contender. For whatever reason I am not a fan of Laguna (eek…makeup gods be kind), but Casino is so up my alley. Although initially a little scary looking (for a pale girl), this bronzer adds such an amazing colour to my complexion, it really lifts the look and frames the face well. I do use a light hand because of the deepness, and because it blends so easily I never get that oompa loompa vibe.
To create an effortless, yet defined eye look I used Bad to the Bronze and then ran the same bronzer through the crease and sheered it out over the lid. It gave a lovely deepened crease and was perfect for a hazy, understated smokey eye. To finish off the look I coated my lashes with an old faithful and to top it off I used Mac–Mangrove (matte). This is a prefect creamy orange based red, think Mac-Lady Danger (in fact if you didn’t get Mangrove this is a dupe), for a fresh pop of colour.
There you have it, a modern take on a chic, classic look.
What did you think about spring 2015? Anything that really inspired you or spiked an interest?
