Zoeva - Naturally Yours // a review and swatches

Hi Sweets,
When it comes to eyeshadows I always go for neutrals, I very rarely venture out from my neutral safety blanket, only sometimes going a lil cray and using a navy blue or maybe even purple on the lower lash line or outer corner (woah! thrill seeker) - I mean I hardly even use black eyeshadow.  I favour the warm toned browns, yellow toned highlights and occasionally and cool taupe.  So when I was ordering some brushes from Zoeva (review coming Sunday) I naturally couldn’t help myself and got the ‘Naturally Yours’ palette as well.
For a ‘whopping’ $21.50US you get 10 shadows that come in a great mixture of matte, shimmers, soft metallics and duo-chrome’s.  The quality of the shadows is fantastic, they are soft, smooth and blend really easily and the colour payoff is great.  When dipping my brush into the pan there is almost no kick off/powder, so fall out is extremely minimal and the colours build seamlessly on top of each other.  The mattes are the standouts, as they are both rich in colour and in application (impeccable!).  Each shadow transitions so effortlessly and the colours can be built up or sheered out, depending on your preference.

Pure (matte) – this is a velvety, creamy beige that is the perfect base colour for any look and blends the darker colours really smoothly.

Sofy&Sexy (matte) – this is a perfect warm brown for transitioning, all over the lid or a soft minimal smoky eye.  It blends effortlessly and is a great crease colour.

Smooth harmony (shimmer) – I would describe this as a champagne with bronze tones.  This is a beautiful soft lid colour and looks great on the lower lashline when using smokier colours.

Forever yours (duo-chrome) – Forever yours is a tricky colour to explain.  It has a red base with a taupe shimmer throughout, the taupe is very subtle on the eye, but when wet this transforms into a really strong metallic lid shade.

Slow dance (matte) – this is a rich chocolate brown, that is silky and a beautiful outer v shadow.

First love (matte) – is a yellow cream.  The perfect brow and inner corner highlight, first love blends so flawlessly and for a cream matte it is neither chalky nor patchy, but rather a smooth pigmented shadow that applies really evenly.

Casual elegance (duo-chrome) – Casual elegance is a gold shimmer with white a base.  It is subtle and really brightens the eye.

Sweet sound (metallic) -  used wet or dry Sweet sound is a rich bronze metallic  with a chocolatey brown base.  It is a really opaque shadow, which can be blended so smoothly into the crease.

Lovely Monday (shimmer) - this is a matte coffee brown with soft brown shimmer throughout the eyeshadow.  It applies slightly lighter than in the pan but is opaque and can be built into a rich dark colour (perfect for a brown smoky eye).

Timeless chic (matte) – this is a smoky black shadow that is blendable, applies really evenly and can build into a dense black shadow.  It blends with a fluency that many black matte shadows struggle to do.  It isn’t the blackest out there, but is the perfect kind of black shadow for soft neutral lovers like myself, who are too chicken to use black shadows. (This has the most fall out of the bunch)

‘Naturally Yours’ has a colour range that is a neutral lover’s dream, it has a sophisticated smoky vibe and the natural ‘no-makeup-makeup’ look down and I love it!  Oh I haven’t mentioned anything about the packaging…  I love the modern wood grained colours of the packaging and the water spill effect on the cover.  The shadows are housed in a sturdy cardboard palette, the only thing missing is a mirror but overall it gets an A+.  Have you tried any of Zoeva’s makeup?  I am thinking of getting their new Rose Golden palette as I am so impressed with the quality of the shadows.
